Outdoor Centre Summer Camps For Kids (Grades 1 - 7)

Lots of fun in the great outdoors 2012!

Let your kids be kids this summer! Our camps promote physical fitness, exploration, adventure, skill building and most importantly, fun! Camps are suitable for kids from Grades 1 - 7. We are constantly reviewing our camp offerings to ensure the best locations, activities and staff for your children. Choose from climbing, cycling, fishing, hiking, rafting outdoor photography and more. Your kids will have plenty of stories about their adventures everyday and will learn lifelong skills about teamwork, leadership and problem solving.

Course Description: 

You're never to young to appreciate the outdoors! This new camp for kids in Grade 1 will introduce activities such as hiking, setting up a campsite, and learning fun facts about nature. Kids will also get to make crafts and visit fun Calgary locations. Note: No bike is required. Camp includes: qualified instructors, equipment, and costs for other activities.

Course Description: 

Activity, variety and fun all in one! During this popular camp, kids can try a number of different outdoor activities within the city limits. Daily adventures may include hiking, climbing, biking, swimming, rafting down the Bow River, playing games and visiting kid-friendly places in Calgary. Note: A bike is required for this camp (not on the first day), and campers must be able to ride a bike. Campers are divided into two age groups, grades 2 - 4 and grades 5-7. Camp includes: qualified instruction, tickets to city attractions, climbing equipment and all other activity-specific gear, except bikes.

Course Description: 

It’s like the Tour de France for kids, but way more fun—and in Calgary! Kids spend the day biking along Calgary’s extensive pathways, visiting kid-friendly places around the city, swimming and playing games. Grades 2-4 cycle about 5 to 15 kilometres each day and Grades 5-7 cycle about 5 to 25 kilometres per day. Although campers will burn a lot of energy and sleep well each night, these distances are very achievable for everyone! Note: A bike is required for this camp, and campers must be able to ride a bike. Camp includes: qualified instruction and tickets to city attractions.

Course Description: 

Discover the thrill of fishing! Each day kids visit a new lake or pond around the city or in Kananaskis Country in their quest to catch a fish. Kids get a chance to learn about fishing techniques, the best places to find fish, how to identify species of fish, and they also learn about wildlife and the outdoors. Some fishing holes can only be found by hiking to them, so kids should be ready for a fun fishing adventure!

Note: Price does not include fishing rods. Camp includes: qualified instruction and transportation.

Course Description: 

Head for the mountains every day for a new adventure! Kids spend one day rafting in Calgary and the other four days they head out to Kananaskis Country to try new outdoor activities such as rafting, mountain biking, hiking and wilderness skills. Note: This camp runs from 8:30am-4:30pm and is only for Grades 5-7. Camp includes: All sport-specific gear, except bikes.

Course Description: 

In a flash, we’ll have kids thinking about how to capture amazing photographic evidence of their trips in the backcountry. They’ll need this evidence, because we also practice and teach “Leave No Trace” ethics. No one will ever believe they were there! We also spend time on the last day for campers to work together to create a visual log from their experiences. Camp includes: qualified instruction and transportation. Price does not include cameras.

Course Description: 

Kick up some dust on awesome trails this summer! This course will introduce youth to the fundamentals of mountain biking, including body positioning, balance, gearing, and basic obstacle riding. The first session will be spent on a local Calgary trail were kids will learn where they can ride for free all summer long. The last three days will be spent on Kananaskis trails. This camp is only for youth entering grades Grades 5-7. Camp includes: qualified instruction and transportation. Price does not include bikes. Prerequisites: comfortable riding a bike and eager for off roads surfaces.

Course Description: 

Ready to Ride? This intermediate course allows kids to brush-up on their current riding skills, and get out to experience the real thing. The first session will be spent on a local Calgary Trail and the following sessions are spent in the mountains, mastering the skills of balance, gearing for hill climbing, cornering, and obstacle riding. From the diverse trails of Bragg Creek to the skills parks of Canmore, trails reflect the transition between cross-country and freeride skill development. This camp is only for youth entering Grades 5-7. Camp includes: qualified instruction and transportation. Price does not include bikes. Prerequisite: confidence riding off-road terrain (single/double-track) & eagerness to progress riding skills.



World of Watersports

Course Description: 

Experience a variety of water sports, including canoeing, rafting, recreational kayaking and the all new Stand-Up-Paddle boarding. What better way to spend those hot summer days than having fun in the water, meeting new people, and learning new skills. Basic water safety techniques will also be introduced. Camp includes: qualified instruction, transportation, and all activity specific gear. Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25m while wearing a life jacket.
