Outdoor Camps for Teens (entering grade 8 - 12)

Introduction: Teen Expeditions (Grades 8 - 12)
Taught by trained guides, these three-day and two-night expedition-style camps emphasize leadership and sport-specific skills. Teens plan their trip during a mandatory pre-trip meeting with the help of expert guides. Each camp includes: all activity-specific gear, tents, and cooking equipment (except mountain bikes which can be rented at a discounted price). Food is not included in any of the trips however, food planning will be discussed during pre-trip meeting. Note: No experience necessary. Also note that some of the camps are a series of day trips / activity classes with no overnight camping involved - "nights" will be indicated where overnight stay is included.

Rafting Expedition

Go whitewater rafting and spend three days on one of the most popular whitewater rivers close to Calgary! Learn about paddle strokes, water safety, river reading, and navigation through rapids from an experienced raft guide. We’ll be heading to the Red Deer River for our whitewater excitement. Canoeing Expedition

Welcome to the world of multi-day canoe tripping! Learn about paddle strokes, water safety, river reading, navigation through rapids, and how to pack for a multi-day trip from an experienced canoe guide. Depending on water levels, canoeists will paddle the Milk, North Saskatchewan, Old Man, Lower Bow, or Middle Red Deer Rivers. Camp includes: experienced canoe guides, canoes, canoe-specific gear, tents, stoves, pots and transportation. No experience necessary.

Backpacking Expedition

Head out to Kananaskis Country for three days of backpacking in the mountains! Learn about route finding, navigation, shelter building, wilderness survival, animal safety, and what to bring on a backpacking trip from experienced backpacking guides. Mountain Biking Expedition
Kananaskis has some of the best mountain bike terrain in the world! Whether you're new to the sport or keen to develop your skills, you'll have the time of your life. Through a combination of cross country and free ride skill development, you'll learn and practice body positioning, gearing, cornering and manoevering obstacles. Trail selection, bike maintenance and outdoor skills are also introduced. Camp includes: experienced mountain bike guides/instructors, tents, stoves, pots and transportation, plus a 10% discount on bike rentals. Lakeland Extended Expedition

Get into Kayaking Day Camp (Grades 8-12)

Learn to kayak in this three-day beginner teen camp. An introductory pool class gets you warmed up for an afternoon of skill development on the river. Then off to the Bow River for a day of moving water skills… finish off with a taste of whitewater on a full day run from Ghost Dam to Cochrane (west of Calgary). Soar and More Day Camp

Interested in flying? Learn about the exciting world of wind-sports including hang gliding, paragliding, and traction kiting. Through classroom and practical instruction, participants learn the basics of how to fly each of these crafts. The amount of time spent on each activity is wind-dependent and participants must be at least 5-feet tall and weigh 90 pounds. Camp includes: all gear and instruction and transportation. Climb On Outdoors Day Camp

Reach new heights, outdoors! Climb popular beginner routes such as Wasootch, Yamnuska Bluffs, and Heart Creek in Kananaskis Country each day.
